9 March - Day 10 - 'Let every dawn be to you as the beginning of life' John Ruskin

Now that it’s getting lighter in the mornings, I’m trying to set off earlier and was, therefore, able to nip outside before I set off to capture this lovely sunrise. It seemed a very fitting start for a day when I’ve been very grateful to receive two sponsorships.

Whatever the reason that March 9 has been selected by Dick and Jen and by Jean N, I hope that they like the picture and know how much I appreciate the support. It is part of being human I suppose that days on a calendar can stand out as a special memory or a sad one, that both sunrises and sunsets, beginnings and endings are part of our lives.

When I did set off, it was another every cold morning but the sun was bright and it was so good to see the clients and staff back yesterday, that there was certainly an extra spring in my pedal this morning. As Jeanette Winterson said, ‘I know that the real things in life, the things I remember, the things I turn over in my hands, are not houses, bank accounts, prizes or promotions. What I remember is love -- all love -- love of this dirt road, this sunrise, a day by the river, the stranger I met in a café.
