10 March - Day 11 - Looking Like a Drowned Rat

The picture hopefully says it all this morning. Despite waterproofs, gloves, electric socks (which I was a bit worried might react to the wet), I arrived at the Centre a rather soggy mess. So, while drying my clothes on the radiator (The new boiler has been fitted over the past two days and is working really well!!), I looked up ‘Looking like a drowned rat’. Apparently, the saying first appeared in Latin nearly 2000 years ago and in English from about 1500, which shows that even though things change through time, the weather has always had an impact and the words we use to describe the effects remain very much alive.

So continuing the weather theme (sorry!), with 50 mile winds predicted tomorrow, I have to apologise to the anonymous sponsor as I think I will have to travel by a different means. Given things aren’t likely to improve today, I feel that the journey home might feel twice as long anyway. I’ll be back on the bike first thing Friday morning with pictures and words to share.
