5 March - Day 8 - Wheelie, wheelie tired
I got very wet on the way home last night (there was no mention of heavy rain on the weather forecast!) so was very pleased to see blue sky as I set off today. I smiled to myself as, ‘Enough to make a sailor’s trousers’ is what my Mum would always have said.
With heat pads on the bottom and tops of my toes and a better outlook, things were clearly looking up. Unfortunately, up was the problem today, as the 4.2 mile uphill section appeared to have got longer and steeper as the week has gone on. As I pedalled hard to maintain the speed, the views around me kept me going and gave me the perfect excuse to stop and take a picture. Obviously, I only did this so that I could provide a nice picture and it had nothing to do with the need to give my legs and lungs a rest. So - eight days in, 225 miles completed and only 4275 to go. I’m sure the more sponsorship St Wilfrid’s receives, the easier those hills will seem…
