September 6 - Day 121 - ‘Inspiration is a guest that does not willingly visit the lazy.’ Tchaikovsky

If you haven’t read Helen’s introductions to my daily blogs on Facebook, you might not have realised that I have not been cycling for the past two weeks because I was on leave. Hopefully, the picture might also have given you a clue that it wasn’t taken between home and work - although as you know, I have had some strange encounters over the past 120 days.

The picture summed up for me, what it felt like lying in bed this morning and thinking about cycling to work - not least because of the excess weight added to the bike - and not I should add - in my panniers.

I gave myself a good talking to though and reminded myself that one of the things that I used to get frustrated about was when people saw holidays as a right not a luxury. I will never stop recognising how lucky I am to be able to go away and be able to appreciate new sights and experiences. So, not ever taking that for granted, I reminded myself about the reason why I am doing Sponsor a Spin, when luxuries for some people can be bought with a few pence and experiences can be as much about the people we spend time with as the places we go to. That was enough incentive to get out of bed and cycle to work even though I also have to admit that it seemed more of an effort and required a lower gear at times - perhaps my bike has just seized a little since the last ride!

As I begin the challenge of the final 30 days, with nearly £5000 raised so far, I do hope you will join me in sealebrating St Wilfrid’s Centre 30th Anniversary and give me your seal of approval by sponsoring one of the remaining days. Tomorrow’s picture will of course be taken much nearer home.
