Yorkshire Rose Cycle Club chooses St Wilfrid’s Centre as its Charity of the Year
St Wilfrid’s Centre is delighted that Sheffield based Yorkshire Rose Cycle Club has selected St Wilfrid’s Centre to be its charity of the year.
To kick off the annual fundraising partnership, a team from Yorkshire Rose Cycling Club led by club member Jo Abbott, held the city’s first ever women's only cycle clothing sale and swaps at the Centre.
The event was well attended by cycling enthusiasts and members of various women's cycling groups including Breeze and Yorkshire Rose Cycle Club. Together with sales from cycling clothes, bike parts and cakes, the event raised over £340 for St Wilfrid’s.
Said Jo Abbott, an YRCC Member and event organiser ‘it’s great that we can help support St Wilfrid’s Centre and the invaluable work that it does each day in our community. We all passionate about cycling in our Club and if when we come together, we can help raise money from some our events, then everyone benefits. The cycle clothes sale was a great way to start our fundraising and the puncture repair workshop led by Sharon went down very well! Due to popular demand we will be back in the autumn, with even more items to buy, to make sure that everyone can be kitted out for the winter cycling months!’
Thank you Yorkshire Rose Cycle Club we are so excited to be working with you all and thank-you for choosing us. If you want to find out more about the cycle club then do get in touch with them – a super friendly bunch who welcome all new members of all abilities! ride@yorkshirerose.cc
